  • LeBron James Feared Pat Riley Would Break Up Heat If They Lost To Celtics In 2012
    on March 23, 2020 at 2:10 pm

During the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat were down 3-2 against the Boston Celtics and LeBron James feared Pat Riley would break up the team if they were eliminated. The Heat were in Year 2 of the experiment of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. "My mentality was if we lose, [Heat president] Pat Riley may break us all up. And I [didn't] want that," James said. "It might be the quickest breakup in basketball history." The Heat never seriously considered such action and went on to win The Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Heat also signed Ray Allen that offseason. James scored 30 points in the first half of Game 6. "Not only might they break it all up, but my legacy is going to take a huge, huge hit if I don't go out here and perform at an all-time high," James said Thursday.

Several teams across the league have established funds to help assist part-time employees. "We have approximately 1,000 part-timers and they are the backbone of our business. Night in and night out, every single one of these employees works tirelessly to provide our guests and our community with the best experience in sports and entertainment. They deserve our help as we all navigate this unpredictable situation together," said Eric Woolworth, the team's president of business opereations.

  • Jae Crowder On Time With Heat: 'I Really Want To Make This My Home'
    on March 14, 2020 at 7:04 pm

Jae Crowder said he felt comfortable in his short time with the Miami Heat, and hopes to re-sign with the team this offseason. Crowder will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. "I really want to make this my home. I feel comfortable here, feel comfortable with the whole organization top to bottom. If everything goes as we plan, I'm sure everybody would like to stay together and build off what we're doing this year and go into next year with the same mind-set," said Crowder. Crowder is averaging 11.9 points and 5.8 rebounds since getting acquired from the Grizzlies. The Heat are said to be clearing cap space for the summer of 2021, making a one-year deal the likeliest option.
